KIM

CSTA President

CSTA President / Master Sangpil Kim is a 6th Degree Black Belt, certified by the World Taekwondo Headquarters (KUKKIWON). He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Taekwondo from Kyung Hee University and is a former member of the Korean National Demonstration Team. President Kim has achieved rankings as a Certified International Referee, and USA Taekwondo Poomsae & Sparring Referee and Coach.

President Kim is the owner of two World Champion Taekwondo locations: Woodbridge and East Rock. He has been teaching Taekwondo in this area for over 10 years.

TOURNAMENT DIRECTORAMAR SINHA

Mr. Amar Sinha works as a manager for World Champion Taekwondo after having trained Taekwondo for the past 14 years. He joined CSTA as the Tournament Director with hopes of providing the highest level of competition for CT athletes.

REFEREE CHAIRMANKWANGJIN HA

Master Kwangjin “KJ” Ha is a 4th Degree Black Belt, and has been a USAT National Poomsae Team member since 2013, having ranked #1 in the USA and Pan-America. He joined CSTA as the Referee Chairman with hopes of providing highly trained referees to Connecticut’s tournaments.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATORKRIS HYUN

Instructor Kris Hyun is a 3rd Degree Black Belt, and currently heads the Brookfield location of World Champion Taekwondo. He joined CSTA as the Volunteer Coordinator with hopes of coordinating volunteers to run smooth tournaments in CT.

CSTA SPOKESPERSONBRUCE GALLUP

Instructor Bruce Gallup is a 3rd Degree Black Belt, and currently heads the East Haven World Champion Taekwondo. He joined CSTA as the Spokesperson to Taekwondo in Connecticut to his best ability.

MEET CSTA

The CSTA works to promote participation in and awareness of Taekwondo in the state of Connecticut. CSTA holds the Connecticut State Taekwondo Championship. The State Championship, held in the spring, is the state qualifying tournament for USA Taekwondo Nationals. The CSTA is also involved in organizing training opportunities for Connecticut athletes, coaches, and referees.
